Cities- The capital and largest city is Pyongyang with a population of 3,255,288. Other major cities include Kaesong (population of 308,440) in the south, Sinuiju (population of 359, 341) in the northwest, Wonsan (population of 363,127) and Hamhung (population of 768,551) in the east and Chongjin (population of 667,929) in the northeast.

Climate - North Korea has a continential climate with four seasons. Winters are long and bitterly cold. Summers are short, humid, hot, and rainy. Typhoons affect the peninsula on an average at least once every summer. Typhoons bring lots of rain and flooding. Spring and Autumn have the most pleasant weather with mild temperatures. On August 7, 2007, the most terrible flood in 40 years struck North Korea, causing the government to ask for international help.

Demographics - North Korea's population is roughly 24,000,000. The polulation is mostly North Koreans with minorites of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, South Korean, and European exiles. The life expectancy for a North Korean in 2009 was 63.8 years. Infant mortality has a high level of 51.3. North Korea's fertility rate is relatively low at 2.0 in 2009.
